St. Croix Soccer Club teams State Cup 2010:

4 Semifinalists - U15 Premier/MRL (Juventus) Boys, U16 Premier/MRL (Scorpions) Girls, U16 Premier/MRL (Rossoneri) Boys, U18 MRL (Red Devils) Boys.

SCSC had 2 finalists, U16 Scorpions girls who lost 0-1 and the U16 Rossoneri boys won 2-0!

Congratulations to the U16 Rossoneri boys for winning MN State Cup for the U16 boys age group and they will be traveling to Beaver Creek, OH to represent the State of MN.

US Youth Soccer Level Classification

Select Soccer usually refers to a system where players go to tryouts, are evaluated, and then selected to be on teams. The term “select soccer” is also used to refer to more competitive soccer (as opposed to recreational soccer), where players with the most ability, desire, and competitiveness are grouped on teams to play. Select soccer generally costs more for families than recreational soccer, and teams usually have paid coaches. In addition, select soccer requires more time commitment from families because of travel, number of practices, length of the season, and tournament play.

Classic Soccer invovles tryouts and players are selected for a team based on skill level. Team constellation can change from one year to next, based on ability level & tryouts. Playtime may not be equal and is according to the coaches discretion. Players begin to specialize positions, especially at the older ages and higher classic levels. Time commitment usually consists of 2 or more practices/week, with 1-2 games per week. Teams attend 2-3 tournaments/yr; more at team discretion and Classic Level. All teams will have a paid coach; typically former college level players with E or above desired coaching license are prerequisite; emphasis is on skill and tactical development of players; this is ENTRY level into competitive soccer.
